Smithtown Dentist Receives the AGD Mastership Award.

      Local Smithtown Dentist, Dr. Alex Shvartsman, has received the prestigious Mastership Award from the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) this July 2010. He is one of a little over 1% of American Dentists who have achieved this honor. Mastership in the AGD is a symbol of dentistry’s continual journey toward improvement, innovation and progress. 
 
     To earn Mastership, Dr. Shvartsman first earned the Fellowship Award in 2001 by completing 500 hours of Continual Education (CE), and passing a rigorous written exam on all areas of dentistry.   The Mastership Award requires an additional 600 approved CE hours, meeting the minimum requirements in each of the dental disciplines. In addition, 400 hours of the required credits had to be in hands-on courses.   Dr. Shvartsman is one of the youngest dentists in the country to achieve Master of AGD status in 2010.
 
      The Mastership Award was presented during a convocation ceremony at the AGD’s annual meeting held in New Orleans. The award is presented to commemorate a member’s dedication to ongoing learning in dentistry. Dentists pursuing the Mastership Award are committed to providing the most current, up to date dental techniques and technologies. In fact, Dr. Shvartsman’s office is one of the most technologically advanced dental practice on Long Island. Some of his modern equipment include several Lasers, Digital X-rays, 3-D Cone Beam Digital X-ray, CEREC CAD/CAM, fully computerized - paperless office, needle-free injection system and the latest in dental materials. All this technology serves a higher purpose: To provide exceptionally comfortable dental care.
 
Dr. Shvartsman is a graduate of SUNY@ Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine and the Alleman-Delipery Center for Biomimetic Dentistry. He is a former Clinical Instructor in the Implant Department of NSUH-LIJ Dental Residency Program. Currently he is the President of the Long Island CEREC Forum Study Club. He lives in Saint James with his wife Melissa and their 7-year-old son Logan along with their two Birman cats.
