Safer, more precise dental implants

DENTAL IMPLANTS ARE NOW SAFER WITH LESS PAIN AND LESS SWELLING

If you are missing one or more of your teeth, then you may want to consider dental implants as the best choice to replace your missing teeth.

A dental implant is a complete tooth root replacement. A titanium cylinder is placed into the jaw using our gentle and safer computer assisted and guided surgical protocol. Titanium is so biocompatible that the bone actually heals into it. Over a period of 2-6 months the implant fuses to the bone and is used to support crowns, bridges or dentures. Dental implants in their current form have been used for over 50 years with success rates over 90%. They are considered by most dentists the standard of care in tooth replacement and the majority will last a lifetime!

One of the main advantages of dental implants is that unlike teeth, dental implants will never get a cavity. Decay is the number one reason fillings or crowns need replacement. In addition, unlike with a bridge, your natural teeth do not need to be drilled or damaged in any way in order to have a dental implant.

Many patients do not consider dental implants because they are concerned about the surgery and risks involved to place dental implants.   This concern is a real one since many vital structures such as sinuses, nerves and adjacent teeth may be damaged during implant surgery.

Fortunately the days of extensive traditional surgery that can lead major swelling and black and blue marks, pain and possible damage to nerves, adjacent teeth or sinuses are virtually a thing of the past thanks to newly available modern technology. At State of the Art Comfort Dentistry, Dr. Mayer (a periodontist specializin in implant surgery) uses the latest minimally invasive and safer techniques to place dental implants.  Using Galileos CBCT: our 3-D low radiation digital x-ray system your jaw will be scanned and a dental implant is virtually planned in the 3-D software to optimize implant size and its location in the bone relative to the future tooth. Then a surgical guide is made that will guarantee ideal implant placement based on the 3-D virtual plan. The guide will ensure that the implant is placed within 1/10th of a millimeter of the original virtual plan. This innovative guided surgical approach reduces surgical time, large incisions, bleeding, swelling and pain. Implants can be placed more safely, without the worry of damaging vital structures such as nerves, sinuses, adjacent teeth and bone.  Many patients have actually gone to work the same day.

At State of the Art Comfort Dentistry your dental care will be attended to by experienced and knowledgeable implant dentists. Dr. Mayer is a periodontist who is one of the most experienced surgeons on Long Island in guided implant surgery using the Galileos and Nobelguilde protocol. Dr. Shvartsman is a restorative dentist that has completed a 2 year Implant Fellowship and has taught implant dentistry at NSUH at Manhasset department of dentistry.   Sedation dentistry is available to those who are interested.
