Several studies have already shown promising results using Bone Marrow derived stem cells in regeneration lost bone around teeth form Periodontal Disease (Gum Disease). According to a new report published in the Journal of Oral Implantology, a procedure using stem cells may provide a more thorough regeneration of periodontal tissue (cementum, bone and periodontal ligaments) around dental implants. The experimental implants received a poly-scaffold seeded with stem cells derived from bone marrow. These implants showed some level of tissue development as early as 10 days after surgery. In one month the 3 tissues required for periodontal tissue development were present.
