Yesterday, I was walking trough the mall and in the window display of a local electronics store I was mesmerized by a movie playing on the TV screen. The picture was clear, crisp and perfectly detailed. I never saw anything like it. I had to investigate further.  The machine behind this amazing picture was the new Blu-eay DVD playing on an HD TV.

So what does the blu-ray DVD has to do with the latest version of Sirona's on office CAD/CAM: the CEREC AC? EVERYTHING!  How does the Blu-ray DVD achieve such clarity and detail? The answer lies with its laser. The original DVD's use a red laser to write and read data, while the Blu-ray DVDs use a blue Laser.  The benefit of the blue spectrum of light is that its wavelength is shorter than a red laser.  This allows a blue laser to focus with a greater precision while storing data in less space. A Blu-ray DVD can store more than 5 times more data in the same size disk. 

This same differnce is the innovation of the new CEREC AC camera. instead of using the original infra-red scanning technology, the CEREC AC has been redesigned tu use a blue spectrum Light Emitting Diode  (LED) to capture images with unparalleled detail  and accuracy. This makes it the most precise CAD CAM camera in the world!

 In June of 2009, Dr. Shvartsman became the FIRST and ONLY dentist in the Smithtown area to offer the new CEREC AC to his patients. This means will benefit from  better fitting, more detailed Porcelain crowns, onlays and veneers for his patients.
