3-D Dentistry: Superior Diagnosis and Treatment
 
In his ongoing effort to bring you the best of what dentistry has to offer,  Dr. Shvartsman is the first restorative dentist in Smithtown to invest into the Galileos Cone Beam x-ray 3-D scanning system.  He is know to be the dentist of Firsts: The first General Dentists to bring the VersaWave dental laser to Smithtown and the first Restorative Dentist to bring the Surgical Dental Microscope to Smithtown. Now once again Dr. Shvartsman’s patients will benefit from the cone beam 3-D technology of the Galileos. At State of the Art Comfort Dentistry the doctors and dental hygienists are no longer limited longer limited to interpreting 2-D x-rays and make “educated guesses”.  A quick 14 second outside the mouth scan is all it takes. Patients no longer gave to suffer through 18-22 uncomfortable individual x-rays. This is especially great news for people with a high gag reflex or who gave difficulty taking conventional x-rays. With the Galileos images Dr. Shvartsman can see inside the bone and teeth in 3-D, making diagnosis precise and accurate.   This means more predictable and safer treatment outcomes. The Galileos gives more information with 4 times less radiation than a complete set of x-rays and 80-100 times less than traditional CAT scans. Furthermore, both jaws and the sinuses are clearly seen with the 3-D Galileos scan, while a complete set of 18-22 individual 2-D x-rays only show the teeth and a little bit of the surrounding bone. Combined with the CEREC CAD/CAM system, which is a 3-D surface scanning technology, the Galileos facilitates dental implant procedures that are faster, safer, more precise and less costly. In addition, many dental implant procedures can now be made without incision! This technology has allowed Dr. Shvartsman to reduce his implant fees for a single tooth implant below the cost of a 3-tooth bridge. In addition, the ability to scan through teeth and bone in 3-dimentisons allows for more accurate diagnosis of infection, root fractures, abscesses and other problems. Problems that were difficult or impossible diagnose with 2-D x-rays can be clearly seen with the Galileos scan.
